Course Information
Age group: Lower Primary, Upper Primary, Lower Secondary
Every day is a good day for an ice-cream! Who can resist them, from the very simple ice-cream cone to pricey sundaes?
Using this theme as a springboard, this whole module will teach participants through a comprehensive, multi-modal approach, principles of drawing, design, painting and sculpture.
Participants will
Learn basic principles of drawing – shapes, proportions, depth and pattern-making
- Learn strategies in rendering to create 3 dimensionality – tones and textures
- Learn how to handle drawing and painting tools and materials
- Be exposed to both dry and wet medium and how to use them to complement each other
- See the possibility of using recyclables and everyday objects to create a sculpture
- Be exposed to contemporary artists and draw inspiration from their work
- Learn to convey their personal ideas creatively and artistically
These skills are transferable across other themes of their choice.

Esther is a trained architect from NUS. She has been interested in Art from young and was awarded the book prize for Higher Art as a student. She taught Art at Nanyang Girls School as a MOE-trained teacher and is now an independent art educator who has helped many children develop their art portfolios.
