Course Information

Age Group: Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Adults

In this Age of Influence, with the plethora of information and knowledge all around us, too often we fall into the state of being overwhelmed and anxious about everything.

Mountains! is a therapeutic and curious process of art making, which keeps students engaged. This program’s main focus is to develop a strong understanding of Elements and Principles of Art. It's simple and explorative nature allows students to subconsciously enjoy the experience rather than a closely guided instructions-based approach.

Through trial-and-error approach, students will learn

- Colour compatibility (monochromatic/contrast/complimentary/analogous/triadic),
- Spatial placement of various elements to achieve a harmonious artwork
Composition of artwork using Principles of Art
- Texture and Value using various medium (Oil pastels, acrylic paints and magazines)

Another key factor for this program is that it provides a balanced duration for exploration of techniques using various mediums and personal artistic input onto artwork. This balance is important for a holistic art making process, inculcating skill-based learning and at the same time students’ independent approach to art making.

Final expected outcome never fails to amaze and most importantly, provides a fun and relaxingly delightful experience for students learning.

Inspired by Laura Blythman artworks, students will complete an A3 size mixed media artwork. Themed; Mountains, students will work individually as they explore the creative process of various art making techniques using oil pastels, acrylic paints and collage.
